Honeymooning in Greece

We decided on our honeymoon destination 9 months before our wedding, we knew we'd like to go to Greece but we're sure where, Pete's parents had a little look and found a gorgeous hotel in Rhodes called 'La Marquise' and once we had seen a couple of pictures we were sold. Rooftop bar, huge lazy pool, private beach. It was the perfect place to have our honeymoon.
We felt a little anxious as this was going to be the longest we were away from J, but pete's parents kindly had him for the week.
The hotel we were staying at was amazing... and huge!

we had our first day as a relaxed day by the pool with a few cocktails. pure bliss!
The next few days were a bit more action packed, as amazing as it was to sit and do nothing we also wanted to explore, we got a bus into Rhodes and hopped on a boat for an all day cruise with a scuba diving and snorkelling spot. I have to say scuba diving is definitely not my thing, i found it terrifying and felt like i couldnt breathe (pete did it though and loved it!) i did however love snorkelling, its amazing how lost you can get in this amazing underwater world, and not realise how quickly time goes! i even managed to follow 5 baby squid at one point which was pretty cool!

On another day we decided to hire a car for the day and explore the island, our favourite spot was called Lindos - it had a gorgeous beach that had crystal clear waters to snorkel at (we spent most of the day here) we also went to the most southern point of the island to a place called Prasonisi - the kiss of two seas.

after a full day of exploring it was nice to get back to the hotel and have a beautiful 5 course meal outside by the pool - now these were huge portions for each course and of course we have all inclusive with cocktails (which by the way were very strong!!) This was how our dinner went.
1st course - bacon and vegetable soup - it was so delicious!
2nd course - goats cheese wrapped in parma ham (also delicious but already starting to feel full)
3rd course - a huge salad - (havent even got to our main meal yet!!)
 4th course - Pasta

.... so what i havent mentioned at this point, was the cocktails were incredibly strong, so strong in fact that i had to ask for more pineapple juice to be put into it just so i could drink it - so i knew when it was really strong the drink was blue/ but when it was how i liked it, it was green because there was more pineapple juice! so after 3 very strong cocktails i was very excited when i was brought a green drink....
so excited that in my haste to drink my delicious cocktail (ps i was quite tipsy) i dropped my glass into my pasta and it flooded the bowl! (ooops - pineapple and coconut pasta was a new experience ;) )
 ooops!
5th course - pudding! this was again amazing - all the food at the hotel was incredible and i definitely put on at least half a stone whilst i was away!

we really had such an amazing week away, it was a big shock to the system returning to england at midnight in the freezing cold and rain! i hope you've enjoyed a little insight into our honeymoon - here are a few more of my favourite pictures from our trip!
i would so recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone, it was absolutely gorgeous, a short drive away from the old town, and it took just over an hours drive to get to the other side of the island!
